In His Presence reflects the beauty, movement, and fullness found when we draw near to God. The many layers within this piece represent more than color and texture—they speak to the searching, wrestling, surrender, and refining that can take place along the journey of faith, ultimately leading us into a place of peace and presence.
Each layer carries evidence of what came before it. Some moments remain visible, while others have been covered, transformed, or incorporated into something new. In much the same way, our walk with God is rarely a straight path. There are seasons when we search for answers, wrestle with uncertainty, surrender what we cannot control, and allow God to refine what is within us.
The cascading movement of color suggests His presence pouring into every part of that journey. The luminous warmth above seems to descend into the deeper blues and rich colors below—like heaven reaching toward earth. Amid all the complexity, there is still harmony.
For me, In His Presence is about arriving at the realization that peace does not necessarily come when everything is resolved; it comes when we surrender ourselves to God and remain in His presence. The layers are still there. The journey is still part of the story. But in His presence, the striving can cease.
The painting becomes an invitation—to draw near, to surrender, and to discover that after all the searching and wrestling, what the soul has been longing for is found in Him.
Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)
“You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
